Hull Truck Theatre presents
Hansel and Gretel
- Written and directed by Tom Saunders
Step into the woods with Hansel and Gretel for a sugar-coated Christmas adventure!
Hansel and Gretel are twin brother and sister. They’re also best friends... and sometimes worst enemies. One minute they’re singing songs and having fun, the next they’re at war.
On Christmas Day, Dad makes a deal with the twins. If they can avoid falling out for the whole day, then they will earn a special Christmas treat.
Whilst Dad’s in the kitchen rustling up the festive feast, they decide to play some games. First in the garden, then in the field behind their house, and then they go to the place they’ve been warned not to go alone... the woods!
Whilst exploring, the pair stumble upon a funny looking house made of... gingerbread. But who does the house belong to? And why have they never seen it before? Their new woodland pals urge them to return home, but they’re lost... and the house smells so good. Surely one little taste would be OK, wouldn’t it?
Exploring themes of family and food, this fun-filled adaptation is a modern twist on a classic tale. From the team that brought you The Little Mermaid and Rapunzel, join Hull Truck Theatre for another magical festive production. Specially designed for young audiences and their families.
