Hull Truck Theatre is inviting theatre-makers from across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire to take part in a new artist development residency, What’s The Big Idea? Do you have the seed of an exciting theatre idea? This initiative is aimed at creatives who have the early spark of an idea they want to explore further. Whichever theatre discipline is your area of specialty, the theatre is offering space, time and support to help artists develop their thinking. Over two days, the programme will bring together a small group of local artists in a collaborative environment designed to encourage experimentation and creative risk-taking. Participants will work alongside peers and be guided by members of the Hull Truck Theatre team, as well as an external facilitator. The sessions will focus not only on generating and testing ideas, but also on considering the practical steps needed to bring them to life. Organisers describe the experience as a chance to reconnect with creativity, build confidence, and engage with a network of fellow theatre-makers in the region. Hull Truck Theatre is keen to hear from a wide range of voices. The two-day event will run from 10am to 6pm on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June. Selected participants will receive a fee of £330, with lunch provided on both days. All ideas developed during the sessions will remain the property of the artists.
